Extend your rug 24–36 inches beyond the edge of your dining table in order to allow all four chair legs to fit on the rug and comfortably move in and out.
If your space is extra large, consider centering your rug based on the placement of your table.

Your feet should land on the rug when you step out of bed.
Extend the rug 24–36 inches beyond the foot of the bed to accommodate any furniture such as a bench or chaise.

For wider hallways, the runner should be centered up to 8 inches away from the walls.
